One of the most significant advantages discussed during the webinar is that Blue Frontier’s system qualifies for a 30% tax credit on both equipment and installation costs due to its integrated energy storage. This incentive allows the system to be first-cost neutral or even lower than traditional DX rooftop units, removing a major barrier to adoption.

Operating cost savings are substantial. With energy reductions of 40–85%, peak demand avoidance, and the ability to align consumption with lower-cost energy periods, building owners see immediate and ongoing financial benefits. In many cases, the value of demand charge reduction alone can materially improve project payback.

Maintenance requirements are also simplified. The system uses durable materials such as stainless steel and epoxy-coated enclosures, with an expected lifespan of 15–20 years, comparable to or better than conventional equipment. Maintenance is largely limited to filter replacements – air, water and desiccant – all of which are monitored in real time through a digital twin platform. This eliminates guesswork and reduces unnecessary service visits.

The webinar also highlighted operational flexibility. The system can be deployed as a packaged rooftop unit or as a split system, allowing designers to centralise regeneration and storage while distributing multiple air-handling units throughout a building. This scalability opens the door to applications ranging from small commercial buildings to large campuses.

The overall message was clear: advanced HVAC no longer requires a trade-off between cost, comfort and sustainability. By combining efficiency, embedded energy storage, incentives and long service life, Blue Frontier’s approach delivers a compelling total cost of ownership – making next-generation HVAC a practical choice, not just a visionary one.
