On 8 November 2025, the global HVACR and indoor air quality (IAQ) community united once again to celebrate World Ventil8 Day (WV8 Day), an international awareness campaign highlighting the critical role of ventilation in safeguarding health and wellbeing.

Observed annually, the 2025 edition centred on the theme ‘Collaborate to Ventilate’, calling on professionals, researchers, policymakers and advocates to share examples of impactful partnerships that have strengthened ventilation practices around the world.
This year’s theme underscored the idea that progress in indoor air quality is rarely achieved in isolation. From advancing technology and improving system design to developing new training frameworks and informing public policy, the campaign showcased how collaboration continues to shape a healthier built environment. Participants were encouraged to spotlight projects that enhanced ventilation performance, improved energy efficiency, supported evidence-based legislation, or helped grow skills within the ventilation workforce. Engagement across social media – particularly via #WorldVentil8Day and #Collabor8Ventil8 – amplified these stories globally.
To support awareness efforts, organisers released a comprehensive promotional toolkit featuring posters, social media graphics, logos and educational resources that individuals and organisations could adapt for local campaigns. Complementing this, the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) published its new 2025 report, ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’, which examines the lifelong health impacts of air pollution, including exposure to indoor contaminants – a timely reminder of why effective ventilation remains a cornerstone of healthy buildings.
WV8 Day was established by a coalition of leading research institutions and professional bodies dedicated to improving IAQ. Core organising partners include the Future Urban Ventilation Network, the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA), the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), and the Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA).
A wide network of international supporters also contributed to this year’s campaign, among them REHVA, AHRI, AREA, UNEP, TAPAS, Clinically Vulnerable Families (CVF), CleanAir4V, AIRAH, BioAirNet, the Clean Air Programme, GCP Europe, ISIAQ, NAQTS, CNI, ASHRAE and the Air Infiltration and Ventilation Centre (AIVC).
“Ventilation is one of the most effective tools we have for improving indoor environments,” one of the campaign organisers noted. “WV8 Day is about making that knowledge accessible and actionable for everyone.”
The 2025 campaign once again reinforced a simple but powerful message: better ventilation saves lives – when the global community collaborates to share innovation, insight and a collective commitment to cleaner indoor air.
