Evapco, a global leader in heat transfer solutions, cooling technology and evaporative cooling systems, has celebrated its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of innovation, growth and customer-focused engineering.

Founded on 14 June 1976 in Baltimore, Maryland, by Bill Kahlert and Wilson Bradley, Evapco began as a small business focused on evaporative condensers for the refrigeration industry. Fifty years later, the company has grown into one of the world’s leading providers of heat transfer solutions, serving customers across a wide range of industries.
Speaking at a special 50th anniversary celebration, Evapco South Africa managing director Andre van der Merwe reflected on the company’s remarkable journey from its modest beginnings to its position as a global force in cooling and heat transfer technology.
“Through commitment to quality, service and continuous innovation, the company has evolved into a global market leader in heat transfer products and services,” said Van der Merwe.
Over the past five decades, Evapco has expanded beyond its original product offering to deliver a comprehensive range of heat transfer and cooling solutions for commercial buildings, cold storage facilities, food and beverage processing plants, data centres, industrial operations and power generation applications.
While the company’s global footprint and product portfolio have grown significantly, Van der Merwe emphasised that Evapco’s success continues to be driven by its people and its strong family-oriented culture. Employees, suppliers, sales representatives and business partners were recognised for their contribution to the company’s growth and long-term success.
The anniversary event also highlighted Evapco’s ongoing commitment to innovation, research and development, and sustainable cooling technologies. Company representatives pointed to continued investment in energy-efficient systems, water conservation initiatives and environmentally responsible engineering solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of customers worldwide.
A recurring theme throughout the celebrations was the company’s guiding philosophy of “Evapco for Life” – a concept that reflects both the long-term value delivered to customers and the enduring relationships built with employees, suppliers and partners over the past 50 years.
