What a wonderful time was had at the KZN Christmas in July/Fellows Appreciation Luncheon on 5 July 2024.
The theme was ‘A Tropical Christmas’ and everyone was encouraged to wear something tropical. There were about 62 people that attended the Westville Country Club, many dressing the part including the Fellows. The tables were colourfully decorated and the hall was filled with Caribbean styled songs that were sung by Sandy Elle and Bryan Row as people chatted, ate and drank. The food was delicious; lamb spit-braai with salads and vegetables, the dessert was brownies with strawberries, marshmallows which were drizzled with a hot chocolate sauce!
Gordon Banks was the keynote speaker (his last official function as the KZN Chairman) who spoke about honour which he mainly directed at the SAIRAC Fellows. Gordon also emphasised the need for the more mature, experienced and knowledgable members to continue to mentor the up and coming leadership within the industry. A poster sized photo with a bit of history on each Fellow was laid out on a SAIRAC display table…they were given their boards to take home and were handed a biltong knife as a gift of appreciation for their contribution to the industry. The Fellows were very appreciative of the honour shown them.
Finally a special thanks to Jade, the KZN secretary as well as to Deborah Banks for their assistance in the organising, advertising, booking as well as the table settings and props that were designed and put together to make this event successful. SAIRAC KZN thanks those in the committee who went out of their way to promote the event and to all of those who attended because without their support their efforts would be in vain.
