Small propane (R290) split air conditioners from Chinese appliance giant Midea – the only room AC models to earn Germany’s highly demanding “Blue Angel” ecolabel – are now available on the European market. The first container of the All Easy Series R290 units has arrived at Midea’s German headquarters at Eschborn, near Frankfurt.
During the 27th Market Intelligence Committee meet, organised by Eurovent Market Intelligence (EMI), over 40 companies looked at the new HVAC-R trends more closely.
The European Commission and Öko-Recherche recently presented the preliminary findings of the F-Gas review study. The study notably models the degree to which F-Gases could be substituted in RACHP equipment until 2050. Eurovent considers the substitution scenarios unrealistic and has expressed scepticism about the modelling assumptions used by the study consultant.
AREA, the voice of European air-conditioning, refrigeration and heat pumps contractors, has issued concrete proposals on the extension of the F-gas certification scheme to alternative refrigerants.
European refrigeration and air conditioning contractors’ body AREA’s revealed that only between 3.5% and 7% of F-Gas certified personnel are trained on alternatives, depending on the refrigerant.
